About La Primavera
This reproduction is based on Botticelli’s painting, Primavera or Spring (1482), and is one of the earliest classical allegories of the Renaissance. Following in the neoplatonic tradition, Botticelli’s symbolic narrative reveals his humanistic intentions. In an orange grove, Cupid, Zephyr, Chloris and Flora, the three graces, Venus, and Mercury act in visual poetry.
