About The Bearing Wall Daniel Ostermiller’s father worked in taxidermy, which inevitably influenced his son’s career. However, Ostermiller strays from the fixed permanency of taxidermy, and gears his art around the fleeting moments of animals in their natural and domesticated habitats. Yet, the perfection of form in taxidermy is evident in Ostermiller’s keen sense of animals’ anatomy and biological characteristics. The artist says, “I’ve moved as far away from taxidermy as I can.” He travels around the world to observe animals and continue his fascination with the subject matter. Ostermiller says, “I am romantic about animals. I’m sensitive to groupings of them. Together they are stronger.” | RETURN | |
